PTA restores access to social media websites

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Sunday restored access to social media websites within the nation.

The PTA had suspended social media together with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Daily Motion after launching an operation to finish Faizabad sit-in in Islamabad on Saturday.

Earlier, the federal government on Sunday directed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to repair transmission of all information channels.

The regularity authority had taken all information channels off air within the nation.

Sources stated that the printed of stories channels can be restored in a while.

They stated that the media regularity frame would factor tips for the tv channels.

The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) and the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) on Saturday condemned the government’s determination to shut information channels.

Sources stated that the verdict to repair transmission of stories channels were taken throughout the PM Abbasi’s assembly with Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday.
